I am an 80 yr. old woman who was badly injured in an auto accident on 3/4/2025. A couple of my Doctors have requested that I have a Nerve Conduction Test due to my back injury and neuropathy problems in my right foot causing me to fall 5 times so far. I messaged Rehabilitation Medicine Physicians of Southern OR to be sure the Nerve Conduction Test was done there and if so, I would have my Dr. send in a referral. The first thing I was asked was did I have a lawyer and a claim number. Realizing this would be necessary I answered yes. Then I was told that this organization does not schedule anyone involved with a legal situation. Because I can't proceed with treatment without this test, I said I would use my regular Medicare Advantage Plan for payment, which would have nothing to do with my legal issues. This Org. would be paid as usual by United Healthcare Med. Advantage - no lawyer, no claim number, no waiting for settlement to be paid. Still I was refused an appointment if/when my Dr. referred me. A different Dr. also needing this test for me called this Org. on my behalf, and the Dr. was refused the test. I was told by the person I was communicating with about 2 other offices where this test could be done. I already knew one of those Dr's did not accept my insurance. The other Dr. is 85 miles from my home, and I cannot drive. There is no medical transportation in my area, I'd be fortunate to get transportation to the Org. in Medford, Oregon. I'm left with no means of getting the test I need, and for no real reason since I offered to use my personal insurance, not involving any legal claim.
